Localised numbers

Configure multiple phone numbers so that the geographically closest number is used when calling an applicant.

Settings > Calling > Localised numbers

📝 Note: Purchasing a new number

To use localised numbers, you will need to purchase a new number. Please refer to the Purchasing a new number guide.

Once you have purchased your new number, this will appear in the "Unused numbers" section at the bottom of the localised numbers page.

  1. Click the "add" button.
  2. Select your new number from the "phone number" dropdown.
  3. Enter your coverage area (this is used as a label against the number).
  4. Select a country constraint (This option is explained further down, here).
  5. Click on the map and drop the pin where you would like your virtual office number to be located (This will be used to calculate the distance between the customers location).

📝 Note: Using the map

If a Manchester number (0161) and a London number (020) is active within your account and you ring a customer based in Milton Keynes, the London number would be served as this is the closest location to the customer (using the postcode on their application).

💡 Tip: Country constraint

If the customer you are calling is located in North Wales and the closest virtual office number located to them is in Manchester, but you have a number located in Cardiff that you would rather use, this is where you would use the local constraint.

Selecting "Wales" in the country constraint drop down on the number set up, will ensure any customers based in Wales will receive a call from that localised number and not the number closest to them.

If a country constraint isn't selected and the default of "Any" is used, the closest number to the customer will be used, regardless of their location.

If all the localised numbers have a country specified and the applicant being called is not in that country, it will fall back to the default outgoing number)
